Sign in and keep your account safe

You sign in to your host’s client area with a one-time code, so there is no password to remember.

  1. Open your host’s client area. The page says Client area at the top.
  2. Under Email, type the address your host has for you and choose Continue.
  3. Open the email and type the code where it says Enter the 6-digit code from the email.
  4. Leave Keep me signed in on this device ticked on your own phone or computer. Untick it on a shared or public computer.
  5. Choose Verify and continue.

If your host has set up text messages, you can choose Phone instead of Email and get the code by SMS.

No code yet? Wait for Send again to appear, then choose it. If you typed the wrong address, choose Wrong address? and start again.

If you have a passkey, choose Sign in with a passkey and use your fingerprint, face or phone instead of a code.

Two-step sign-in asks for a second proof after your code. It keeps your domains safe if someone gets into your email.

  1. Go to Account. Under Two-step sign-in, choose Authenticator app.
  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, choose Copy key and paste the key into the app.
  3. Type the code under Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and choose Verify and continue.
  4. You get 10 recovery codes. Choose Download or Copy and keep them somewhere that is not this phone.
  5. Tick I have saved these codes where I can find them without this phone. and choose Finish.

Prefer your fingerprint or face? Choose Add a passkey (recommended) instead of scanning. Give the passkey a Name and choose Save passkey.

Next time you sign in, after your email code you type the code under Code from your authenticator app and choose Continue. Or choose Use a passkey.

Some changes always ask for a fresh two-step code, such as new nameservers or showing a domain’s transfer code.

Under Two-step sign-in on Account, the Recovery codes row shows how many are left. Open it and choose Make new codes. The old codes stop working.

  1. On the sign-in page, choose I lost my phone or codes.
  2. Sign in with a one-time code to your email first, if you have not already.
  3. Type one of your recovery codes and choose Sign in with this code.
  4. Set up two-step sign-in on your new phone straight away.

No recovery codes either? If you are not the account owner, ask the owner: they can reset your two-step sign-in. If you are the owner, choose Contact support. Your host checks the ID document on your account and calls the phone number they have for you. It usually takes [ASSISTED RECOVERY TIME].

After a recovery, transfer codes and contact changes stay locked for [LOCK PERIOD]. You get an alert by email and phone.

Account lists Where you are signed in. Tap a device to sign it out. Turn on Alert me about new sign-ins to get an email each time someone signs in.
